Hunter Douglas Acquires AMO Blinds, United Kingdom Rotterdam, May 21, 2001 - Hunter Douglas, the world market leader in window coverings, has acquired AMO Blinds, a Liversedge, United Kingdom based wholesaler and assembler of window covering and sun protection components and products.

AMO Blinds has sales of about EUR 11 million and employs 120 people. The companies' management will remain unchanged and its employment will not be affected. Terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition of AMO Blinds will strengthen Hunter Douglas' position in the UK wholesale window covering and sun protection market, enhancing the range of products and services provided to the multitude of independent blindmakers which constitute the majority of the UK market.

Hunter Douglas has its head office in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and a Management Office in Lucerne, Switzerland. The Group is comprised of 145 companies with 62 manufacturing and 83 assembly organizations in more than 80 countries. Hunter Douglas employs about 15,000 people, and had sales of EUR 1.7 billion in 2000.

The shares of Hunter Douglas N.V. are traded on the Dutch, Swiss and German stock exchanges and as ADR's on the over-the-counter market in New York.
